1 September - Cannes and Monte Carlo (Monaco)

1 September - Cannes and Monte Carlo (Monaco)

Today we were up early. We went for a walk along the Promenarde and then mum, Alana and Ben and us girls went to cannes and dad and Nathan went to Monte Carlo in Monaco.

It was a 2 hour bus ride to Cannes. It is a beach resort where the famous film festival is held every year. We got to Cannes, walked around the old town and harbour for a bit and then we went to the beach. It was sandy. The weather was nice and warm and sunny. The water is very salty here in the Mediterranean. We spent ages on the beach swimming. We caught the train back to Nice and this time it only took 40 minutes! The scenery was amazing.

Dad and Nathan went to Monte Carlo to register for the triathlon they were doing tomorrow. They rode their bikes there. It was 20km along the coast road which went through little towns along the way and through tunnels carved in the rock. They said the views were amazing.

They registered for their triathlon and racked their bikes and then had lunch in a beachside cafe. They were at Monte Carlo Lorvotto Beach where the triathlon was to start. The transition area for the race is on Monte Carlo Boulevarde between the beach and hundreds of tall buildings.

The beach is in the middle of Monte Carlo and had public and private sections. The sand was a gritty sort of sand almost fine pebbles.

They walked around the town and the harbour for a couple of hours taking pics and exploring. Monte Carlo is the capital of Monaco. Monaco is a "Principality" ruled by a monarch, Prince Albert.

Then they caught the train back. The train station was even pretty swish. It was a spectacular train ride with amazing scenery.

We had a big dinner (tacos and burritos) at home and then off to bed. There was a storm again tonight.
