8 August - We Go To The Theatre in London and London Eye

Today we caught the train in to Victoria station with Susy and then went and watched the changing of the guard at Buckingham Palace.

We also checked out Susy's favourite runners shop and dad bought another pair of running shoes.

Then we had lunch at a cafe in Knightsbridge.

Then we said bye to Susy and we went to the London West End to see Wicked at the theatre. We had a great time. We got dressed up for the show today wearing some of our new clothes. It was a fabulous show with lots of singing and great performers. We had perfect seats up high looking down on the stage.

The show was about the story of the witches in Wizard of Oz. We can understand Wizard of Oz more now after seeing the show.

Then we went in to Westminster Cathedral for a look.

Then walked to the Thames via Westminster Abbey and Houses of Parliament again and had some dinner at a cafe near Westminster Bridge.

Then we went on the London Eye. It is like a gigantic ferris wheel which has large glass capsules that carry about 15 people. It goes around really slow. It takes 1/2 an hour to go around and then you get off.

We had great views of the river and the city particularly the Houses of Parliament and Big Ben. We also saw the many bridges that cross the Thames including the Jubilee Bridge and the Tower Bridge, St Pauls Cathedral, Nelsons Column, the "gherkin" building (Swiss RE Tower), the "needle" building (The Shard), the Guards quarters where the Olympic Beach Volleyball was being played, Buckingham Palace, Westminster Abbey, Waterloo Station, Tower of London, St James Park, Hyde Park and more.

Then we played for a while in a large adventure park and walked across the Thames and took some more pics and went to Victoria Station and came home. We got home about 10.30pm and straight to bed.

7 August - Mens Triathlon and Shopping In London

7 August - Mens Triathlon and Shopping

Today we had the most unreal day. We went to the men's triathlon in Hyde Park. We had a great spot with sis Alana and Ben.

We watched one of the greatest triathlons of all time, dominated by Alistair Brownlee from Great Britain.

Dad keeps saying that these guys are the world's greatest athletes - well Alistair ran a 10km final run leg (after the fast 1.5km swim and very fast 40km bike ride) that would have had him finishing in the middle of the field in the mens 10000m olympic final the night before.

Alistair Brownlee won the gold medal. Mum and Holly's favourite Javier Gomez came second and Jonathan Brownlee came third. The field was just pretty much blown away by the pace set by these three, particularly in the bike and run leg.

The 3 aussies performed heroically but were well back - but coming 20th or 30th in a race like this was something to be very proud of. We felt very privileged to have been there. We saw a really bad bike crash right next to us in the bike leg but the 2 were ultimately OK and could walk away.

Later we met Courtney Atkinson and Brendan Sexton, 2 of our 3 aussie competitors and they told us about the race. It was great to meet them.

We earlier in the afternoon met Emma Moffat and Erin Densham, 2 of our female triathletes. That was pretty cool (Erin won bronze a few days before, Emma crashed out in the bike leg. Emma won triathlon Bronze in Beijing 4 years ago). Dad asked Emma how she was feeling and she said she was very sore still. Erin told Erin that her name was Erin. Holly was very excited because they both gave her a cuddle.

Then we went to Harrods and looked through the incredible shops and bought some chocolate in the chocolate section.

Then we walked via Buckingham Palace through Hyde Park, Park Lane and through Mayfair to Oxford Street and went shopping along the famous Oxford Street and Regent Street shopping strip. Holly and Erin bought some Converse sneekers and we bought some other bits and pieces.

We had a bit of a Monopoly competition to see how many Monopoly board locations we could spot. That was fun.

We had an early dinner in Marks and Spencers Cafe.

Then we walked through Soho, Oxford Circus, Picadilly Circus and via Big Ben and Westminster Abbey back to Victoria Station and caught the train home.

We got home and watched Sally Pearson win gold in the 100m hurdles and a replay of Anna Meares winning her cycling race. That was the perfect end to the day.

6 August - A Big Olympics Day

6 August - A Big Olympics Day For Us

Today Holly and dad went to the Volleyball at Earls Court stadium in the morning. We saw Australia play Poland (Polska) and Russia play Serbia. Poland are the gold medal favs and Russia current world champs.

We didn't know who we were seeing before we got there but were so surprised to see Australia. How good was that! There were very few Aussies fans there compared to Polish people but we made lots and lots of noise. The stadium was packed with 15,000 spectators.

Do you believe it. Australia won 3 sets to 1. It apparently is the biggest win ever in Australian Volleyball history. It gives Australia a chance to make the top 8 play-offs and most likely knocks Poland off top spot in the group.

Then we watched the Russians demolish Serbia in 3 sets. They were big and smashed the ball everywhere.

As we left we checked out the Olympic torch and got a photo with some nice but crazy Polish fans.

Elodie, Erin and mum went to the park in Brockwell Gardens at Susys and had morning tea and then went to the new adventure park which was great.

We all met at Victoria station and then got the tube to Wembley. We arrived early and went inside the stadium and had fish and chips.

The stadium was incredible. It was reconstructed about 5 years ago. It is probably the most famous stadium in the world. We saw the Womens Football Semi Final between Japan and France. Japan are the current world champs. The stadium was full except for 2 small sections at each end which were empty - not sure why. The crowd was over 70,000.

Dad went for Japan and us girls went for France. Elodie went for France because - do you believe it - no 12's name was Elodie. She turned out to be the best player on the field by far. She was a striker. She was tall and dark skinned, had long dark hair and wore fluoro green Nikes to go with the France strip of blue and white. She was very skillful.

Japan ended up winning 2-1. France missed a penalty which would have sent it to overtime and maybe penalty shoot-out. Dad said Japan deserved to win because they were generally more skillful and controlled possession much better than France.

We caught the tube back and got home about 9.30pm and went to bed soon after after a big day.

Oh yeah - we spoke to big brother Nathan on skype. He was at Melbourne airport leaving for London.
