Elodie, Holly and Erin's day in Annecy 12/7/12

Hi everyone,

It's just us here getting ready to tell you about our day in Annecy today. Annecy is a beautiful town in the French Alps. Mum, Elodie, Erin and Holly spent our day looking around town and relaxing around the park on the lake. The park has a lake, over here they spell it lac, the lake has heaps of different activities. They have activities like horse paddle boats on wheels, merry-go-rounds, paddle boats, slides, waterskiing, sailing, kayaking and swimming in the lake.

Dad and our friends Lavina and Ben went to the Tour de France but we stayed home because we were to tired from watching the TDF the day before. We walked down to town and found an an internet point in the local library to check our e-mails. The library was about 300 metres from the lake so once we finished at the library we went to get some lunch to eat down at the lake. Once we had finished our lunch we had a walk around the lake and around the park, we saw lots and lots of places that would be nice to go to. We went to find a supermarket and on the way there we found a place (a patisserie) that sells really nice biscuits, lollies and chocolates. We walked in and a lady greeted us by asking if we wanted a lemon biscuit so we tried one......it was delicious. We decided that we would have a look in there and mabye buy some sweets. When we were looking at some lollies a different lady offered a lolly to us and it was just like a lucky dip because you had no idea what the flavour was. Elodie got a lemon one, Erin got a banana one and I got an apricot one which tasted like a peach one. After we looked at the lollies we went to the chocolate part but I went to the buiscuts and tried a nutella one. We put our things we were buying on the counter and got out our money to buy. We then went back to the lake and hired a paddle boat for half an hour.

Mum and Elodie were paddling at first and then Holly and Elodie paddled Mum and Erin around the lake. We saw a big jetty which had a really high waterslide on it. The slide went straight into the lake. It looked really fun. We looked around the lake a little and then had to paddle back very fast as our time was nearly finished.

We wondered how the riders were going at the Tour de France - were they peddling as fast as we were peddling? We went to the shops and got some food for dinner and for the Tour de France the next day. We then set out to find the bus stop. When we found it we jumped on and went right to the back of the bus and went home. That was our day. Later when Dad got home from the Tour he told us about his day.....

Dad, Ben and Lavina went to TDF stage 11 - Albertville to La Toussuire and Les Seybelles. They drove to Saint Jean Du Maurienne (SJDM) and then up the mountain to La Toussuire and they got a spot just short of the finish line. They couldn't believe they could get so close on the morning of the race (but they had left pretty early). La Toussuire is a ski village at the summit of a mountain 1.5 km above SJDM. From where they were they could see the far mountain where the cyclists came down from the previous mountain into the town of SJDM and then they could see from the lower La Toussuire ski village up some zig zags where the riders would approach them and race past them 600m from the finish. They figured they had the perfect spot. They had panoramic views of the Alps and valleys around. This section of the race was at the end of 3 massive mountains. It was a beautiful sunny warm day. They watched the riders race past and unfortunately Cadel Evans didn't go so well today. But dad said it was an unbelievable experience.
